Joys of Living in Brazos County, Texas

I am still on the stupid Texas law concerning the rabies vaccines.  It makes no difference if you keep up on your pet's shots.  Should that pet bite or even scratch you and the cops get wind of it, they will take your pet, deposit it at the animal shelter, leave it for 10 days.  This is called a rabies watch.  At the end of that 10 days, you will have to pay $125 for this rabies watch which your pet has already been vaccinated for.  If you don't have the money, then your pet will be put to sleep and they will try to collect the $125 plus the cost of putting your beloved pet to sleep.
Now if you report a bite from a stray animal, the reply is, "There is no use looking.  We'll never find this dog or cat."  Why the difference?  There is no money to be made.  Our tax dollars at work.  And our politicians finding creative ways to shaft the taxpayer.

Stupid Texas Law

Sometimes I wonder whether our elected officials really have anything between their ears or not.  Today, my stepdaughter was bitten by her own dog.  Happens all the time.  Well, the dog broke the skin.  My stepdaughter has MS so she went to the doctor to have it checked out.  Turns out we have a law on the books that says that the doctor has to call the cops.  He did.  The cops showed up, informed her the dog has to go into quarentine and not at her vets.  Her vet is in another county.  Her dog, 12 years old and almost blind, has to be taken to the animal shelter.  This will cost her $125, which she does not have.  The dog has had all shots and has never been behind on shots.  Doesn't matter.  So what is the point of keeping records for the shots if we are going to get stiffed anyway?  The cops took the dog to a shelter that is already full, is underfunded by the two towns and county that use it, and puts animals down after 72 hours.  Where is this?  Bryan, Texas.
