Damn Democrats

I have trashed all the Republican candidates.  Now on to the Democrats.  For the record, I am a half-breed in politics.  My father was a Democrat and my mother was a Republican.  That said, I am an independent.  Do I like the present President?  The jury is still out on that one.  I do, however, believe he deserves more respect from the country than he is accorded.  Just holding the office of President should garner you respect unless your are trying your level best to destroy the country.  I admire the fact that he made a place for himself.  He chose to be seen as black.  The man is not black.  He was raised white, attended a white prep school.  In all respects, he is white.  Do I care what his skin color is?  No.  I only ask that he  do the job to the best of his ability that he applied for, ie President of the United States.  He got bin Laden, which Bush and Company, in 8 years, could not or would not do.  He inherited a country in a mess.  He has tried against all odds to right that country.  He has had to battle the idiot Republicans while doing this.  Do I like him? Not necessarily.  I think he should have told the Republicans to stick it many times over.  Be that as it may, yes, I will vote for him.  I cannot stomach voting for any one of the idiots on the Republican side.

More politics

Well, it looks like Mitt Romney is going to win the primary in Iowa.  Beats me how a state with no people in it can have so much clout.  At any rate, I don't care who the Repugs choose.  There is not a one of them I would ever consider voting for.  Most of them are downright scary.  And there is not a one of them that sees the country as belonging to all Americans.  Romney sees it as belonging to the rich and to Mormons.  Gingrich sees himself as dictator.  Ron Paul  is just plain scary.  In his mind he is right and by God you will admit it and like it.  Bachman.  This woman really does live in la la land.  She creates her own reality as she goes alone.  She tells lies and immediately they are the truth.  One scary---something.  I really hesitate to call her a woman.  Then we get to Perry.  Ah yes, Governor Goodhair.  More like governor nothing, or governor graft and greed.  This, whatever he is, will say and do anything to get to the White House.  If you think the country is in bad shape now, you have no idea what another brainless Texan can do to it.  This man cut the forestry budget by 75% in the middle of the Bastrop fires.  This man was in Austin during the Bastrop fires, 30 miles away.  He didn't have time to even visit the area.  He is governor of Texas and could not even be bothered to put in an appearance with people who were battling for their homes.  Can you say selfish, self-centered, and completely without conscience?  That is Perry.  On to Santorum.  Rick Santorum is in good company with the other candidates.  He is nuts.  He and Bachman are a good match.  Both are for freedom only if it is the freedoms that advocate.  Both are for free speech only if it is their free speech.  In my opinion, both need to be in a mental institution.  Just my opinion, folks.

Romney

I just saw an interview with the Romneys.  Seems Mrs. Romney has Multiple Sclerosis.  Mrs. Romney has access to the best doctors and the best meds possible for this disease.  After all, Mitt is worth $465million.  I know some with this disease who have to live off disability and have a really difficult time paying for those shots.  One person has to pay $30/week for the injections and $65/month for the medicine.  She is on a fixed income.  Disability.  Then she has to budget for the other illnesses that crop up because of this disease.  It costs the whole family because we cannot just leave her on her own.  And Romney says he knows what is good for the country.  This from a man that owns several homes, never had to chose between rent and food, never had to sit and watch a sick child because there was no money for the doctor.  He also never worried about that knock on the door because one of his sons may have been killed in action.  Why not?  Not one of his 5 strapping sons has served in the military.  Neither did Mitt.  He was on a mission in France when Vietnam was raging so he got a deferment.  Sorry, my son has done three tours in Iraq.  He battles PTSD daily. As to Mitt's deferment, someone's son, brother, husband, served in his place and may have died in his place.  I lost a dear friend in Vietnam and he left behind a young wife.  At his funeral, she was sobbing hysterically for them to take off his gloves so she could see if he was wearing his wedding ring.  They could not because he had no hands.  I don't like the man and I do not like his wife.  Not because they are rich, but because they have never even tried to see how the rest of us live and struggle.  Teddy Roosevelt was rich.  He was everyman.  Elanor Roosevelt was rich.  She made it a point to understand those who did not have her advantages.  The Romneys have made no such effort. 

Stupid Politicians

I just heard Rick Perry, with fake tears in his eyes, say that he would oppose abortion in any case even rape.  First, someone with testicles does not have the right to tell me that I have to have a baby.  Second, if I were forced to have my rapist's baby, I would drown it in whatever water I could find.  Sorry if that sound  cruel, but just look at this from a woman's standpoint.  If you had your rapist's baby, you would have to relive that rape every second of every minute of every hour of every day for the rest of your life.  It takes a really insensitive horse's rear end to even make that kind of statement.  Of course, he is playing to the fundies.  The fundamentalists would force a woman to have that baby to punish her for getting pregnant in the first place.  They would force her to have the baby, then treat her like dirt for doing so.  How do I know?  I have seen it first hand.  And how would Perry suggest she even pay for that pregnancy?  He is all for closing down Planned Parenthood.  He is all for stopping Medicaid.  Just where would she get the money? From her rapist?  Perry,  along with the other members of the Republican party, is an idiot.

I am so sick of the fundamentalists and their ilk.  Their attitude is, "I am right and I will force you do as I say."  Notice it is "do as I say, not do as I do."  Rick Perry is about as near a nothing as they come.  He should be called Slick Rick.  Anything he does is for one of two reasons 1)to line his pockets or 2)to get into the White House.  He doesn't give a tinkers damn about the country nor the people in it unless they can help line his pockets.  The citizens of Texas are being forced to pay for his travel and protection while he campaigns.  It is costing us dearly too.  Look it up if you don't believe me.  Will he reimburse the Texas taxpayers?  Hell no. 

Christmas wish.

My wish for Christmas would be that the troublemakers in DC wake up and realize they represent the American Citizen.  They do not represent the citizens of Mexico, India, Iran, nor any other country.  Just the American Citizen.  I would wish they would enforce the laws to protect the American Citizen.  I would also wish they would look at any legislation they pass and ask themselves, "Is this going to benefit the citizens or is it going to benefit big business?"  Of course, this won't happen.  They will continue bickering and passing the buck and blaming each other rather than be statesmen and women and doing what they are supposed to do.  We can all hope.  Anyway,  Merry Christmas, everyone and Happy Birthday Jesus. 

The Idiots in DC

Notice the Repugs finally came around on the payroll tax cut.  Guess it finally dawned on them that the American people are really ticked off at them. One of them even had the audacity make the statement that "If they didn't pass the payroll tax cut, it would only take about $40 out of the average paycheck and $40 isn't much money."  Not to them maybe.  However, that $40 may mean the difference in having gas to get to work or maybe buy food for the kids.  Any way you cut it, that $40 would mean a great deal to the majority of Americans.  This really shows how out of touch Congress is with the rank and file Americans just trying to make ends meet.  I would find it sad if it weren't so disgusting. 

Truth Will Out

Seems Ron Paul's past has caught up with him.  Now he is denying writing the hate filled newsletter.  Nope.  Not buying it.  I think he did write those newsletters.  I don't believe Ron Paul is any more trustworthy then any of the other Republican nutcases trying to steal my country.  We have really sunk low if this group of nuts are even being considered for the office of President. 

Know what a group of baboons is called?

My friend sent me a picture of a group of baboons and the caption "Know what a group of baboons is called?  The answer, and it does explain a lot, is a Congress.  Guess we now know what is representing us in Washington.  However, I do hate to insult the baboons and I would consider it an insult to them to liken them to the complete idiots in Washington, DC.  They call themselves conservatives.  They are not conservatives.  What they are is greedy, narrow minded, mean pieces of human feces.  They belong in the sewer treatment plants.  Why am I so bitter?  I see people every day just trying to make ends meet, working the menial jobs that are available to them.  Then I hear crap like the Keystone pipeline will bring lots of jobs.  NOT!  Ok, first, if they do get the go-ahead on the pipeline, the only jobs it will bring will be to contractors who will then hire illegal aliens.  It will not bring any jobs to Americans.  Even if it did bring a few jobs, they would be temporary.  And that pipeline is slated to cross over the aquifers that are the only source of fresh water for most of the west.  Once those aquifers are polluted, there is no water.  But the politicians don't care.  Why should they?  They will be able to buy all the fresh water they want with the kickbacks from the oil companies.  The oil that is to be piped to Texas Coast will be sold overseas.  Canada does not want to pollute their shores, but hey we are suckers.  They will just pollute ours.  Think not?  Can anyone say BP?  The Alaska pipeline is in dire need of repairs, but BP is rolling the dice once again.  Let's just run that pipeline through each and every politicians home and see how they like it.  I hate politicians.  There is not a one among them that would know honesty and integrity if it slapped them in the face.

Keystone Kops

If you have been following the circus in Washington, then you know that the idiots almost shut down the government yesterday.  Why?  Because the Republicans are a bunch of whiny brats who only want what they want and don't give a tinker's damn about the rest of the country. The Southwestern United States depends on aquifers for their water.  These are underground lakes.  They are huge.  The Ogallala alone serves as the water source for West Texas and the High Planes.  This covers a lot of agricultural land.  The Repugs want to lay an oil pipeline from Canada to the refineries on the Gulf Coast of Texas.  They are giving assurances that this will be safe and the pipeline will be well maintained.  That pipeline will go over all the major aquifers.  If we look at the history of the oil companies keeping their word about anything, then everyone of us should be scared to death.  There is a layer of black gunk on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, thank you BP. The marshlands of Louisiana were destroyed, thank you BP.  Revisit Prince William Sound in Alaska.  Take a look at the damage done there.  The Valdez was a floating disaster waiting to happen and it did.  Scientists predict that Prince William Sound will continue to feel the effects from that round of callous disregard by Exxon for maybe another 30 years.  Now, look at the difference in an ocean and a contained underground lake.  There is no way to clean up an underground lake. So any spill would pollute the entire aquifer.  Go to Wikipedia and read up on the Valdez.  Exxon got off scott free.  And Exxon along with all the other oil companies collects tax subsidies from the taxpayer.  And our elected officials do not have the integrity to even make them responsible for the messes they make.  So this idea of a cross country oil pipeline is really over the top and every Repug in Washington is supporting it.  And all will stand to make a profit. 

My Congressman

I got a letter today from my congressman, Bill Flores. It was a one page letter blasting Obama and singing the praises of the Republicans.  In the first paragraph, he makes the statement that "Throughout the past year, House Republicans have continued to focus on a common-sense private sector blueprint for job creation and economic growth."  He also included a card asking three questions.  1)Do you support measures that would amend the U.S. Constitution to require a balanced budget?My answer:  No.  Unless it contains the provision that the deficit can never be more than 3% of GDP.  Anytime it is more than 3% of GDP, then no sitting congressman will be allowed to run for re-election.and must return the salary and benefits they have received since the deficit became higher than said 3%.

Question 2:  Do you support measures that would require a 3/5 vote of congress to increase the amount of debt our Nation carries?  No.  This is a redundant question.  If we have a balanced budget amendment, we would have no debt, so why would we even need this? And both parties would use it block necessary funding.

Question 3:  Do you support measures that would cut all spending not related to homeland security or defense spending across the board by 1%-5%?  Oh HELL no.  This is aimed directly at Medicare and Social Security.  Medicare and Social Security are not entitlement programs.  They are paid for.  Not only that, most insurance companies require you to purchase Medicare or they will only pay "what Medicare would have paid."  In other words, when you reach 65,  your insurance company is allowed, by law, to dumb down what they pay to about 50%, but they do not decrease your premiums.  This is one of Congress's jewels.  And the Social Security fund is bankrupt because said Congress has looted it for 40 years.  It is full of IOU's and they don't want to have to pay those IOU's.

Needless to say, I blasted my congressman's ears.  Never in my 61 years have I seen a congress so greedy, so not caring about the country.  You could not find a thimblefull of integrity in the whole of the US congress and senate put together.  Notice I put congress and senate in small letters.  That is because those in congress are small and have degraded the offices they hold. 

Politics as usual

I heard Perry's new ad attacking gays.  He is playing for the Evangelical narrow minded members of our society.  This segment takes the attitude of "By God I am right and you will believe as I believe."  These people should scare the beJesus out of everyone.  They are dangerous.  If they were around when Hitler was in power, if he promised them he would make everyone attend their church and follow their beliefs, they would have fallen in lock step and allowed him whatever he wanted.  These people believe in free speech only for themselves, not everyone else.  And Perry will say and do whatever it takes to win their votes.

And it looks like Herman Cain's past finally caught up with him.  Do I think he sexually harassed those women?  Yes.  Do I believe he had an affair with that woman?  Yes. Do I think he is Presidential material?  Not in this lifetime.  Do I think Gingrich is right for the country?  Oh hell no!  That man is mean, vindictive, selfish and corrupt.  He is in it for Newt.  Not the country.  He doesn't give a tinker's damn about the country except as how he can use it.  It is all about Newt.  Ever see a picture of his present wife?  I think he got one this time that is just as cold and calculating as he is.
