Money in excess
I have no problem with people making money. I have no problem with people keeping their after-tax money. I do have a problem with the rich having a different play book from the rest of us. Romney made, or reported, $1.4million in 2010. He paid a paltry 15% on this money. I made considerably less than that, and even less than $100,000 by a large chunk of change and I had to ante up 13%. So I would like for Romney and his other rich friends to show me where the fairness is in this. And why would we trust him when he hides his money in offshore accounts? Sorry, the only reason to have accounts in the Cayman islands is to hide that money and profits. See, different play book. I have to declare every penny I make. The IRS even wants to know what I made selling on eBay. It wants to know what I made selling my crafts. And I will be taxed on this piddling income. I am waiting on a bathroom tax. Maybe paying taxes on the number of times you go to the bathroom. That is not too far fetched. The Spanish taxed those in Louisiana on the number of staircases in the home. That is why all the old Cajun homes in Louisiana have the staircase on the outside of the house. I am paying roughly $44 every month in taxes and fees on my telephone bill. I now have to pay a city tax because our elected officials piddled our money away and needed and this tax was not voted on by the citizens. The mayor and city council passed this tax. Real democracy at work in Texas.
