Most of you won't have a freezer other than the one on your refrigerator. But if you do, contact the farmers that sell at the farmers market. They will probably deliver the fresh vegetables to you. Make sure you do not let them spoil. If you don't use them, freeze them. Also if you are lucky enough to have a freezer and a yard, dig up that yard and plant a garden. You can order your vegetable seed. If you, on first try, just get a few vegetables, you are on a learning curve. Herbs are easy to grow. You can freeze them in beef broth, chicken broth, or just water to use in casseroles and stews. You can dehydrate them if you have a dehydrator.
Casseroles are your friend. You can make a lot of casseroles with few ingredients. And you don't have to have meat with every meal. In fact, you are healthier if you are a vegetarian.
Try to conserve electricity. That is so your bill won't be so high. Check around on the cost of cable internet versus DSL You might be able to go with a slower internet and save some money. Get back to reading. And putting together jigsaw puzzles. I taught my daughter to do this when we were under stress when her father was ill. We would set one up and everytime someone, friends included, would walk by, one or two pieces would be placed. It is entertaining and a great stress reliever. There are so many ways to scale back and survive. Start looking for ways now to make extra money when we come out from under this. It may require creativity, but we can do this. Also, when we do come out from under this, we have to support each other.
