The Politics of abortion
All those people who are so ardently against abortion because it goes against their beliefs and also giving contraceptives is against their beliefs. Well, forcing a woman to have a baby is against my beliefs. Refusing contraceptives is against my beliefs. The Constitution separates church and state. To me that means that churches and religion do not meddle in state affairs and the state stays out of the church. The state is holding up their end of the bargain. The church is not. The church wants it both ways. They want the government to keep out of their business but want to tell the government how to govern and they want to force all citizens into religion. Time to yank the non-profit status of all churches. Demand accounting, taxes paid for every church that meddles. I will leave the religious organizations alone if they just leave me alone. I don't need them to stuff their brand of religion down my throat. Unlike the religious set, I trust God to do his job. If He wants abortion stopped, He sure has the power to stop it. But the religious set don't trust him. Wonder how they will answer when they get there and he asks why they were meddling in his business. I do truly wonder how these men who are backing no abortion of any kind or for any reason would really feel if it were their wife or daughter that was raped, got pregnant and had the baby. Would that husband/father be able to look at that baby and accept it as his own? How would that man feel if that rapist sued for and got parental rights? Would he be ok with that rapist visiting his house to see the rapist's child? Or would he hate that child and turn his back on the child? Knowing the South like I do, I would put a great deal of money on the father/husband totally rejecting not only the child, but the wife/daughter as well. These men don't think of this when they are playing God.
