The news

Been a lot happening in the last month, most of it crappy.  The Texas legislature, made up of mean ole white men, have passed a bill making it impossible for a woman to get and abortion.  And they have touted this as "protecting women."  Ok, first I don't need some ole geezer that would crawl up my skirt at the first opportunity telling me what is good for me.  And second, this is not about abortion.  This is plain and simple doing away with health care for the poor working women of this state.  There are many, many women in this state that have no insurance and cannot qualify for medicaid.  They are sometimes working two and three jobs just to make ends meet and put food on the table and a roof over the heads of their kids.  These women use the free clinics such as Planned Parenthood.  They get mammograms, pap smears, well care, care when they are ill and free contraceptives.  By forcing the closing of these clinics, there is no health care for these women.  Perry is touting the "free clinics" run by churches.  They don't exist and he damn well knows it.  Perry is trying to position himself with the fundies for a run for the White House in 2016.  And he doesn't give a tinkers damn about the citizens of this state unless they have money and influence.  We are already almost at the bottom of the list in education.  Our schools are a joke.  Care for the working poor is non existent.  Rent is sky high.  The politicians and the fundies just want the poor to go away.  They will, however, take good care of the illegals.  Oh yeah, free schooling, free medical, WIC, TANIF, food stamps and they have 10 kids for us to support.  But that is ok.  We are supposed to feel sorry for them.  Well, my give-a-damn is broken and I can't stand any of the politicians nor can I stand any of the religious right who think they speak for God. Wendy Davis stood up to them.  I so hope she is the leader in a new normal here in Texas, but I do have my doubts.
