Concentration camps and the extermination of the Jews

I just finished reading A Nazi Officer's Wife by Edith Beers.   She grew up in Germany during the rise of Hitler.  Some of her family managed to leave before the crackdown on the Jews.  Her mother died in a concentration camp.  Her little sister got to England and joined their army to fight against the Nazis.  She saw her family destroyed and most of her friend killed.  She saw everything that the Jews owned taken from them.  She faced the contempt and hatred of her neighbors that she had grown up among.  And she realized that the reason for this was greed.  Nothing but greed.  They thought the Jews had more than they did and they wanted what the Jews had.  And they took it and to assuage their consciences, they told themselves the Jews were bad.  The Jews were going to kill them.  And after taking everything the Jews had, they had to make them disappear so they would not be faced with what they had done.  The Jews were and are hated because they know how to create wealth.  They are hated for this reason.  And if the state of Israel had not been created, the killing of the Jews would have continued.  Edith Beers had a doctorate degree in judicial studies.  After the war, she was tapped to try the Nazis.  She declined.  She said that then the ugly anti- semitism reared it's head just like before the war.  She saw she had no future in Germany.  She left for England and never worked in law again.  And if you think that anti-semitism is gone, don't.  It is still there and kept in check, but it is there.  And that is why comparing the detention camps to concentration camps is so wrong.  Those in the dentition camps will not stay there.  They will not face execution.  The Jews did.
