It is going to be really interesting to watch how those Congressmen who were screaming for cutting all entitlements now step up to put up taxpayer money to help repair the East Coast. Here in the South, we pretty much take care of ourselves and help each other out. When Katrina, or I should say the levies broke in New Orleans, FEMA was not there. Bill White sent buses from Houston to help. A Texan in Austin just loaded up his van with bottled water and drove to New Orleans. Private companies sent in trucks of supplies. Churches went to Mississippi and helped rebuild. We all did what we could.
Texas burned this summer. Literally almost all of Texas was on fire. We stood that ourselves. We are out of water. We are finding the means to cope. It would really go a long way if we did see the Republicans stick to their so-called guns and not ante up any funds for rebuilding, but that won't happen. They will never practice what they preach. Look at the payroll tax. It benefits the working class. We won't see that particular decrease in taxes extended. Notice the same Republicans that were screaming no new taxes, cut spending are mute on this tax. Why? It does not benefit them or their rich friends.
